Since childhood I have had a love of both inspiring and helping others. Over the past couple of years, I have been unraveling layers of thoughts to find my place in this world. On this journey, I found that the most inspiring thing I could do is live the life I had dreamed of and inspire other to do the same fearlessly and relentlessly. My place as a server and giver opened up with the debut of my first full length anthology, BrownEyes: Amor – Vol. 1 In My Lifetime on Jan. 3, 2020. This amazon best seller gives a voice to those who have dealt with each step of life gracefully while being open and honest about the emotions we feel and felt. And, with the launch of my lifestyle site, AkilahMiles.com, I will give a more in depth look into what it means to step out into this world fearlessly and live out our dreams with relentless grit and tenacity. Join me each week on 30 Something and Verging to get a unique perspective on life, it’s quirks and all the things we are on the verge of. Under the "Daily Life" section travel with me around Houston as I show you my new favorite spots and favorite Houston eats. Also check out my blog Sass Talk. It is an extension of a segment from 30 Something and Verging. With this blog I will offering daily affirmations, support, and guidance for everyday life in my own little sassy way! Akilah Miles is well on her way to becoming a New York Times bestselling author. BrownEyes: Amor – Vol. 1 In My Lifetime is the first book in her trilogy that she began writing while studying English Literature in undergraduate school at Alcorn State University. Her poetry broadly addresses narratives of the human experience. A native of Jonestown MS, she now resides in the Southeast Houston area, where she is a full-time AP Language and Composition teacher and Grade Level Chair. Follow her on this journey of discovery through those “Pretty Brown” eyes as she spills her heart to the world through pen.
